Mrs.Malathi lakshman was born on 23rd August 1957 at Trivandrum. she did her schooling and college education in Trivandrum. She has a Post graduate degree in Economics. She joined State bank of India soon after her post graduation.She took voluntary retirement from the bank in 2002. She is married to Mr.Lakshman kumar who was with Hindustan Lever ltd. She has a daughter, Chandra lakshman, who is a well known actress in Malayalam, Tamil serials and movies.

Mrs.Malathi lakshman had an interest in painting from her school days. though not trained at that time, she did turn out some good reverse paintings on glass.She got interested in Kerala Mural paintings around three years back and been learning the art from Mr.Prince thonnakkal.Mrs Malathi lakshman is also interested in hand embroidery and tailoring.

She has held exhibitions of her Mural paintings on canvas and fabrics in Chennai. The exhibition at the CP Arts centre in Chennai was a great success and was widely reported on Television and print media. She has plans to market the Mural paintings on canvas, sarees, dress materials under the name of MURAL AURA.

She is deeply religious and enjoys visiting temples and bajan sessions.
